The Center for the Advanced Study of India (CASI) is pleased to fund undergraduate Research Assistant positions on faculty-led projects related to contemporary India. The goal of this initiative is to facilitate student exposure to high-level research and foster engagement with contemporary India, broadly defined. CASI will fund students to work on pre-approved projects at $15/hour up to 300 hours (for a total of $4,500).
Student Research Assistants must be full-time undergraduate students at the University of Pennsylvania. Faculty-led research projects must relate to contemporary India, broadly defined, or India in a comparative context. Funds cannot be used to support student travel.
In order to participate, we ask that students submit their weekly timesheets to CASI for direct payment and contribute to the CASI Student Programs Blog once per month. We also request that faculty members acknowledge CASI’s support in any publication(s) stemming from their research and submit a final copy of said publication(s) so that we may list or share affiliated research on our website.
CASI invites interested Penn faculty members to apply by compiling a/the:
(1) Brief summary of their research project
(2) Description of Research Assistant responsibilities and approximate timeline / time commitment
(3) Name/school/year of the undergraduate student they intend to work with (if applicable)
Please note that CASI can assist with marketing and outreach to connect faculty members with appropriate student candidates should they not already have a student in mind. Applications should be submitted to Laura Iwanyk, Assistant Director of CASI Student Programs & Outreach (email@example.com) no later than Monday, April 12, 2021.
