Friends of CASI
Mission Statement
Founded in 1992, the Center for the Advanced Study of India (CASI) at the University of Pennsylvania is the first research institution in the United States dedicated to the study of contemporary India. A national resource, it fills an urgent need for objective knowledge of India’s politics and society, rapidly changing economy, and transformation as both an ancient civilization and major contemporary power.
The Center’s key goals are to nurture a new generation of scholars across disciplines, provide a forum for dialogue among the academic, business, and foreign policy communities, and offer opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to study and conduct research on India.
Friends of CASI Program
The Friends of CASI are individuals who, by their annual unrestricted financial support, demonstrate their dedication to the mission of the Center. As an integral part of the Center’s community, many members also contribute their time as advocates of CASI’s work. In appreciation, we encourage our Friends of CASI to take special advantage of the programs that their support sustains, including unique opportunities to engage with each other and special access to the work of the Center.
We welcome support at all levels. Friends of CASI benefits are defined by the following annual giving levels:
Members – Gifts of $100 up to $999
In addition to invitations to all CASI public programs, members are invited to an annual reception for all the Friends of CASI.
Benefactors – Gifts of $1,000 up to $4,999
In addition to the benefits of Members, Benefactors will receive all books based on the Center’s research activities.
Leadership Circle – Gifts of $5,000 to $19,999
In addition to the benefits of Benefactors, Leadership Circle members are invited to a private reception with a speaker following one of the Center’s signature events.
Director’s Circle – Gifts of $20,000 and up
In addition to the benefits of the Leadership Circle, Director’s Circle members will receive an invitation to a private meal and briefing with the Center director and/or a senior visitor to the Center.
