Electoral Quotas as a Tool for Fighting Exclusion and Discrimination

In this issue of India in Transition, Francesca R. Jensenius, Senior Research Fellow, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, discusses the electoral quotas for the Scheduled Castes (SCs) in India, arguing that they have played an important role in breaking down social hierarchies.

Vaishak Kumar C'16, was featured in "Penn Senior Vaishak Kumar to Launch Agriculture Extension Project in India," an April 5, 2016 Penn News article by Jacquie Posey. Kumar's project in agriculture extension (being mentored by CASI Director, Devesh Kapur) will utilize cost-efficient technology and novel research to help farmers in India boost their productivity. He is a recipient of Penn's 2016 President's Engagement Prize.
