Sanjoy Chakravorty is Professor of Geography and Urban Studies and Director of Global Studies at Temple University, and a CASI Non-Resident Visiting Scholar. He chaired his department from 2005-10 and during that time was instrumental in creating its doctoral program and undergraduate major in Environmental Studies. His writing on India, inequality, cities, and theory has been widely published. He also writes fiction.
His books include The Truth About Us: The Politics of Information from Manu to Modi (Hachette, 2019) and Seeking Middle Ground: Land, Markets, and Public Policy (Oxford University Press, 2019). A new co-edited collection called Colossus: The Anatomy of Delhi is forthcoming from Cambridge University Press in 2020. The Other One Percent: Indians in America, his collaborative work on the Indian diaspora with former CASI Director Devesh Kapur and Nirvikar Singh was published by Oxford University Press in 2016.
