In the latest issue of India in Transition, Aditya Balasubramanian (Australian National University) examines the Hindu nationalist economic program articulated by the recently canonized Deendayal Upadhyay in the late 1950s, and how the enduring appeal of elements of this program creates policymaking tensions for the BJP today.
