Inter-Group Inequality and Voting Behavior: Evidence from India

In this issue of India in Transition, Pavithra Suryanarayan, Assistant Professor, SAIS, Johns Hopkins University, finds that variations in economic and social inequality between caste groups in the Indian states can explain why we observe caste-based voting in some places and not others.
