Anurag Mehra

Professor, Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay
Anurag Mehra is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. He earned his Bachelor's degree from IIT Kanpur and his doctoral degree from the University of Mumbai. He has been on the IIT Bombay faculty for over two decades and has been a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, in Spring 2007, Fall 2013, and Spring 2014. He has also spent a year-long sabbatical and several summers as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
Professor Mehra's research interests are in the broad areas of reaction engineering, surface science, and nanomaterials.
He has held several senior administrative positions at IIT Bombay and was responsible for initiating major administrative reforms in the institute. He has a deep interest in the politics and sociology of education, especially in science and technology institutions. He was a Visiting Faculty at the Policy School of the Indian Institute of Management at Bangalore in the summer of 2010.
At CASI, Professor Mehra will be researching and writing about public policy issues related to higher education. Areas of particular interest include governance structures, academic organization, and student life in these institutions.
