About the Book:
Navigating the Labyrinth: Perspectives on India’s Higher Education (Orient BlackSwan 2017) analyses a range of issues facing higher education in India today, from the various types of post-secondary educational institutions—the research university, teaching colleges, and vocational training institutes; to initiatives for skill development, such as community colleges; to higher education financing and governance. It combines diverse methodologies to explore this complex landscape, including ethnography of institutions, case studies, data-based work, and a deeply moving personal account of the decline of a small regional college.
