In this issue of India in Transition, CASI Managing Editor Rohan Venkat speaks to Eswaran Sridharan (UPIASI) about the results of the 2024 general elections, the “beginnings of a loose bipolarity” between two big national blocks in India’s Parliament, and how the strategies used in pre-electoral coalitions make India rather unique and particularly different from the European nations that form the bulk of coalition literature in political science.
Deadline Approaching to Apply to Become a CASI Visiting Scholar/Fellow In-Residence
CASI’s Visiting Scholars/Fellows Program is designed to bring individuals to the University of Pennsylvania with different areas of expertise from academia, the bureaucracy and civil services, NGOs, and civil society (such as media). Scholars and fellows participate in CASI events; engage in scholarly research projects; present their research as a part of the CASI seminar series; and interact with undergraduate and graduate students, and Penn faculty. Fellowships are typically one to three months in duration. Fellows are invited to apply for the 2025-26 Academic Year (September 2025 to May 2026).

CASI Job Opening: Assistant Director, Research & Outreach
The Assistant Director, Research & Outreach supports CASI’s mission by managing key dimensions of the Center’s research, programming, and communications activities. The holder of this position will work alongside the Center’s Director and senior staff to manage the Center’s core research personnel, coordinate and produce high-profile events on and off campus, and design and implement the Center’s media and communication strategy. These tasks will require the position to develop collaborative relationships across Penn's campus, design plans for ensuring effective and well-attended events, and craft communications strategies for effective outreach to research, student, alumni, and donor communities.
