CASI Holds Co-Organized Conference in Bellagio, Italy on State Building in India

On July 22-26, 2013, CASI held a conference at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center in Bellagio, Italy on "Building an Indian State for the 21st Century." The conference was organized by CASI, Centre for Policy Research, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania Institute for the Advanced Study of India (UPIASI), and was funded by the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center and International Development Research Centre.

The objective of the conference was to understand the challenges facing India's key public institutions and design a research agenda to build a stronger, more capable Indian state suited for the challenges of the 21st century. The results of the conference will be published as a book in 2014.



 

CASI Welcomes Visiting Dissertation Research Fellow, Neelanjan Sircar

Neelanjan Sircar is a Visiting Dissertation Research Fellow at CASI as of August 2013. He is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. His research interests include Indian political economy and voter behavior with an eye to Bayesian statistics, causal inference, social network analysis, and formal methods. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from UC Berkeley in 2003.
