CASI Announces Winners of Summer 2009 Travel Funds Competition
The funds for this year’s students will be distributed amongst three winners for the CASI-Piramal Foundation Summer Internship at the Grassroots Development Laboratory (GDL) in Bagar, Rajasthan; four winners for the CASI Summer Internship at Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group in New Delhi; and two winners conducting graduate-level research in India. This year’s internships are made possible through the generous support of the Office of the Provost, with special thanks to the University of Pennsylvania’s Office of International Programs (OIP) and the International Internship Program (IIP) for administering the competition.
These selected students are strongly motivated, thoughtful, diverse, and bring with them a range of interests, perspectives, and international backgrounds.
CASI-Piramal Foundation GDL Summer Internship Winners
Yuki Hashimoto, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Environmental Studies.
Cengiz Rahmioglu, a junior at The Wharton School, concentrating in Finance and Entrepreneurship.
Sasha Riser-Kositsky, a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in History and Political Science with a minor in South Asia Studies.
CASI-Chintan Summer Internship Winners
Ignacio Crespo, a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Economics.
Erika M. Lindsey, a first year Masters of City Planning candidate in the Graduate School of Design.
Roshan Rai, a freshman at the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Cassidy A. Regan, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in International Relations with a minor in Urban Studies.
