"Explaining the Decline in Women’s Role in Workforce" by Abhishek Jha was published in the December 13, 2021 issue of Hindustan Times. The article offers key results from a survey of 15,000 Indian households conducted by CASI Senior Fellow Devesh Kapur (Director, 2006-18), CASI Visiting Scholar Neelanjan Sircar, and CASI Non-Resident Visiting Scholar Milan Vaishnav on gender, social change, and urbanization.

CASI Welcomes Applications for Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 2022-23

CASI invites applications to fill a postdoctoral fellowship position for the 2022-23 academic year. The position is open to applicants from the humanities and social sciences whose work focuses on contemporary India. We welcome candidates from a wide range of disciplinary traditions and methodological orientations. Applications will be reviewed starting Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

CASI is resuming the Summer Internship Program and will send students to India in May 2022! Though we will operate in a limited capacity due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are thrilled to extend opportunities to Penn students interested in working with Aravind Eye Care Systems and The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).
