CASI in the News

CASI Director, Devesh Kapur co-authored, along with Milan Vaishnav (Associate in the South Asia Program, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace) "Being Middle Class in India" in the December 9, 2014 issue of The Hindu. This is the first of four articles that will be published by The Hindu in December and January on the findings from the latest round of the Lok Survey, on aspirations and anxieties of ordinary Indians. The Lok Survey is part of a larger CASI research project on urbanization and social change sponsored by the Lok Foundation. The Lok Surveys aim to track the attitudes of Indians over the next several years, as part of a significant new effort to understand the social and political reconfigurations taking place across India today.
