On April 20, 2016, Rukmini Banerji, CEO, Pratham Education Foundation, India, gave a Khemka Distinguished Lecture on campus titled "Every Child in School and Learning Well: The Challenges of Elementary Education in India."
The Nand & Jeet Khemka Distinguished Lecture Series is an endowed program of CASI.
Dalit Studies Book Released
Dalit Studies (Duke University Press, 2016), the edited volume from CASI's 2008 Dalit Studies Conference papers, is now available. The book was edited by Ramnarayan S. Rawat (Associate Professor of History, University of Delaware) and K. Satyanarayana (Associate Professor of Cultural Studies, EFL University, Hyderabad, and CASI Summer 2010 Visiting Scholar).

In this issue of India in Transition, Supriya Roychoudhury (independent researcher and commentator on South-South Development Cooperation issues) and Shashank Srinivasan (spatial analyst and cartographer working in India) discuss the changing nature of Indian investments in hydropower projects in Bhutan, and recommend greater scrutiny of their socio-environmental impacts by the judiciary and civil society in both countries.
